I am 23 weeks and 4 days pregnant today! Just a few more days until I am 24 weeks which is the earliest doctors will work to save a new born preemie. So starting Friday if Levi were to come early he would have a chance at surviving in the NICU! Of course we would never want him to be born this early but it's a relief knowing that he could survive at this point with the help of medical technology if it did happen.
This week I am pretty sure I've had another growth spurt haha! I was sore and achy in my stomach, thighs, and etc for a couple of days then I noticed my belly suddenly looked bigger and my clothes were even tighter! It's crazy because I won't gain any weight for weeks then suddenly over night my belly just pops out and I even have growing pains when it happens. His movements and kicks are continuing to get stronger. He likes to stop moving whenever Jody puts his hand on my stomach though. Jody gets so frustrated and keeps saying "why wont he move for me?!" Bless his heart lol! I can also see him moving through my stomach now which is WEIRD haha! I had no idea I would be able to actually see him moving under my skin! Why didn't anyone tell me this stuff before I was pregnant? Haha! Anyways, even though I still get nauseous from time to time I finally have a appetite for the first time since I've been pregnant! Thank God! Food no longer disgusts me! I'm still not really craving any specific food though but I do seem to like dairy products (like milk, ice cream, and shakes) more lately compared to before I was pregnant.
I also had my first stranger to comment on my pregnancy while out in public! I guess I officially look pregnant! A guy who was worked at Lowes looked me up and down and said "So what are you having? A boy or girl?" (brave man). Good to know I actually look pregnant and not just fat.
The crib and dresser are still not in :(! I found out that they've been on back order. They won't be here till the last week of May or the first week of June. The crib bedding should be here any day now though and we ordered a chair for the nursery today and it will be here in about a week! So that's all pretty exciting! We also started painting yesterday so we are finally making progress! We decided on an off white color for the nursery. I know it sounds boring but I am actually coping the color scheme of a nursery that I saw online and I think it will look good once we get the room decorated and hang curtains. Here are some pics of Jody painting....he's been working hard :)! Btw..Skip wanted to help too lol!
Next Monday I go back to the doc to have an ultrasound to look at Levi's kidney again. I am also having my sugar test that day to check for gestational diabetes. For those who don't know how the test works.....I can't eat 2 hours before my appointment, then they will give me a special sugar drink, then I have to wait another hour and they will draw my blood. I am a little nervous that I'm going to get sick because I have struggled with nausea throughout my pregnancy and whenever my stomach gets empty it seems to trigger the nausea. Since I wont be able to have any kind of snacks or anything before my appointment I'm a little worried haha. I really don't want to throw up in front of anyone at the doctor! On the bright side I will get to have my ultrasound right after drinking the sugar drink sooooo Levi should be jumping off the walls when we see him hahaha! Here are my 23 week belly shots.....
I am 22 weeks and 3 days pregnant today! Not too much has changed this week. The baby's kicks are getting stronger everyday. Sometimes I can even see my stomach move when he kicks which is kinda weird but neat at the same time! We registered at a Babies R Us this week. I was so excited about going and registering! Little did I know my body has changed and walking around a huge store for 2 hours was not near as fun as I thought it would be haha! My back and feet started killing me! I have been a little stressed out this week. Jody and I have both been sick and we've had a few other things going on so we haven't had a chance to paint the nursery yet and the baby's furniture and bedding still aren't here. I've been a little overwhelmed because I feel I'm not preparing fast enough for the baby and time is running out! Yes, I'm only a little over half way through my pregnancy but we have soooo much to do and I am anxious to knock a dent in things! Not to mention the baby could some early since he is HUGE haha! Oh, we also have to find a pediatrician soon too ahhhhhh! Forgot about that haha! Luckily Jody is going to take a few days off next week so we can accomplish some of these things :)! Here is my 22 week belly shot and a pic of me and my grandmother :)! I've been wearing this outfit alot! I really need to go shopping soon for more maternity clothes!
I am 21 weeks and 3 days pregnant today! The most interesting thing that has happened this week is a growth spurt! Seems like my belly popped several inches over night! My back, thighs, hips, belly, and etc. feel extra achy this week from all the stretching! All of a sudden none of my clothes fit! I've been wearing the same baggy t-shirts everyday. Even the maternity shirt I bought a few weeks ago is too tight. I also feel like Dolly Parton because my chest has tripled in size which is another reason nothing fits lol. I went shopping the other day but I really didn't find much. My figure is kinda complicated. I have these tiny little arms and legs, no hips, and no rear end, yet I have this big belly and chest. Oh, and I am short so that complicates things even more haha! It's been hard to find clothes that look right on me. Maybe I can go shopping in Birmingham soon and find some stuff! Other than that not much has changed this week! I've had a nasty cold so I haven't done too much in the past few days! We are going to register at Babies R Us Tomorrow or Wednesday so that will be exciting :)! We are anxious for our next doctor's appointment so we can check on the Butterbean's kidney and we are still waiting for the crib and stuff to arrive! Here is my belly shot for 21 weeks...
I am 20 weeks and 4 days pregnant today! Woo hoo! I am half way though my pregnancy! I can NOT believe it! Seems like just yesterday we found out we were expecting! The most exciting thing about week 20 is that Jody finally felt the baby kick! When I had my ultrasound yesterday they told me the baby was head down (at this point he can flip into different positions everyday). When I got home I felt him moving and sure enough it was pretty obvious that he was head down because the kicks were near my belly button instead of low like they usually are. I got Jody to put his hand on my stomach and immediately the baby kicked him! So far that is the only kick Jody has been able to feel but hopefully within another week or two he will be able to feel the baby more as he grows and gets stronger.
Symptoms for this week are.........NAUSEA! Yep, the nausea is back :(! I'm not sure if it's the heat or what but I have been having nauseous/lightheaded spells. Normally if I sit down for a few mins the feeling goes away though.
We had our "anatomy scan ultrasound" yesterday. They do this around 20 weeks to look at the baby's organs. They reconfirmed that he is still a boy :)! We also got some surprising news....he is HUGE! Haha! The average size for a 20 week fetus is 10.5 ounces. Butterbean weighs 15! The doctor asked me if I was feeling him move around any yet and I said "yes" and the doc said "a little bit?" and I said "no I feel him alot haha!" then she laughed and said "well, that's because he is big!". She said he is the the 86th percentile for his weight meaning he is bigger than 86% of other 20 week babies haha!
The doc also said that everything looks perfect except for one of Butterbean's kidneys are enlarged. She said this is not that uncommon with boys. Sometimes they have a leaky valve in their kidney that causes urin reflux and the urin ends up flowing backwards back into the kidney instead of down into the bladder. She told me not to be too concerned because 9 times out of 10 the problem clears up before they are born. She said she is going to do another ultrasound in 4 weeks to see if the kidney shrinks back down any. If it doesn't shrink then there is nothing they can do about it until he is born. If the problem doesn't clear up he may have to have a stint put in after he is born. She said this is unlikely though and that I shouldn't worry myself about it. I feel pretty confident everything will be ok but of course I'm going to worry I tiny bit! Who wouldn't!? So we will have to pray for Butterbean's little kidney between now and his birthday!
Here is my 20 week belly shot:
For those for you who think I am not showing... I am! I'm just really good at hiding my "bump" haha. Here is another belly shot from a little bit of a different angle with my hand on my belly!
